Anti Gaza War Demonstration in Tel Aviv

The stakes are high in the Gaza strip. Black clouds of war loom over it. Not everybody is supportive of an invasion. Though I think it’s currently only a war of words, I stood with protesters this afternoon in an antiwar demonstration.

Like in the protests during the Lebanon war, the red colors dominated the scene. With the general elections coming in 6 weeks, there were signs that were directed to the elections.
The red Hadash party was behind this protest. Member of Knesset Dov Khenin was there, holding a sign, and then speaking in front of about 200 people that gathered.
He said there’s another solution to the sorry state of Quassam rockets on Sderot – not a military one. He called for a real “Tahadiya”, including a prisoner swap and resuming negotiations with Mahmuyd Abbas (Abu Mazen).

The slogans that were shouted over and over again throughout the protest were similar to the those during the Lebanon war: “In Gaza and in Sderot, children want to live” (literal translation from Hebrew) sounded exactly like “In Beirut and in the Krayot, children want to live”.
The difference is that this time it’s in the south and not in the north, and that this time I went to protest before the war breaks out, and after our army is in the mud.
Well, there are other differences as well, but that’s enough for now.

Yup, a blitz airstrike began this morning. I went to another demonstration in the evening, to participate in the voice of the minority.

and as a reply for David i want to tell that Israel didnt stop the war 6 months ago , Israel killed silently 26 men duirng this preiod , murdered them claiming that they are ” terrorists ” it means that Hamas was shooting its rockets out of replying for killing the 26 men !!!

UN. the Arabs here who had no nationality or considered them self as such misleaded by their leaders and their false promises of sharing them the green cultivated lands which were just swamps decade ago joined the fight against Jews new born state together with 4 established Arab states. We that are Palestinians and Israelis have all at stake and have to forget and forgive each for our own good and find solution for better tomorrow.
I am not against Israel trying to Protect its population threatened by missile bombing their houses , but I am against Israel wanting to create a new order and wanting to impose it on the other side we should not patronize the Palestinians of what they should do and whom they want to govern them, but we should have reacted at least from the moment we left Gaza and evacuated the jews from their settlements witch was a drama well planed by Sharon’s government and well learned from the former Begen , instead of letting the settlements decide for them self if the want to stay under the new situation which would make them Egypt subject ,or under Palestinian subject , knowingly what they would choose we should have given them notice time limit to choose between taking compensation and leaving or staying and facing bitter future for themselves or their children instead we dragged them forcibly and destructed their property which in itself is no intention of peace cause if any refuge living in the house is better than destruction of that house and if you want to make peace really you should want them to have it than to abolish it , that was Sharon , they created a drama for media and this kind of policy keeps us away from peace and that’s for sure .
But at least from the moment we left we should not have tolerated any missile at all and from the very first we should have fired ten even bigger from our side and hurt their population and so on after a few rounds while the Palestinians would have recognized what it means of leaving under blind bombing and would have stooped Hamas from doing so no we had to be humanitarian “do we know meaning” we blamed Hamas and tried to pick them individually and what happened Hamas got more popular and won the election and the rest is in front of us.
